IT Empowerment for Her - growing a community of girls in STEM, IT, and CS.

After noticing a lack of a girls-only STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) program run by actual girls interested in STEM, Saumya decided to introduce a new initiative to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. IT Empowerment for Her empowers DFW girls through opportunities, skill programs, mentorship, and an introduction to STEM careers, with a focus on Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science (CS). Currently, the organization collaborates with the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) to bring free programs to middle school girls from underrepresented areas.

About our Founder & CEO

Saumya Rawat is a freshman at MIT & a recent grad of the School of Science and Engineering, located in Dallas, TX. At age 13, after being the only girl in her weekend Java class, Saumya decided to devote her time to bring more girls into STEM, IT, and CS. She founded IT Empowerment for Her in 2017. About our Co-Directors

Olivia Castro and Dalia Quezada-Campos are the Directors of our Dallas chapter operations and programs. They are integral parts of our team, who have been with IT Empowerment for Her since the beginning. As college freshman, they are very excited to continue bringing more STEM programs to DFW. Please contact Olivia for UTD programs and Dalia for SMU programs.

About our Volunteers

We are very fortunate to have local high school students volunteer at each of our events. Students come from multiple backgrounds and can relate to the younger girls. Also, each volunteer serves as a student mentor and provide guidance for the younger girls. Volunteer
